This Privacy Policy describes how FoodWhim ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Service, and tells you about your privacy rights.
We use the information we collect to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
This website uses Google AdSense to display advertisements so we can keep FoodWhim free to read. Google and its partners may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to serve ads, measure them, and (where allowed) show ads that are more relevant to you.
Information that may be collected in connection with ads includes your IP address, browser and device type, language, and pages you visit. Google may combine this with information it has independently collected. Disabling cookies does not remove ads; it usually means you see less personalized ads.
For this Privacy Policy:
You can browse recipes without creating an account. We may collect Personal Data when you choose to give it to us:
We do not require a public login. Staff sign-in uses a separate admin cookie and is not part of the public Service.
Usage Data is collected automatically when you use the Service. It may include approximate country, browser language, user agent, pages you visit (including the home page, recipes, and posts), searches you run, and similar diagnostic data.
We also record coarse actions such as starting cook mode, printing, sharing, saving a favorite, or clicking a product link, so we can understand what is useful.
Recipes you save as favorites are stored in your browser (local storage) on that device. We do not keep a server-side list of your favorites. Clearing site data removes them. Weekly recipe votes use a first-party cookie with a random id so the same device is not counted twice; clearing cookies resets it.
We use cookies and similar technologies (including pixels used by analytics or advertising partners) to operate the Service, remember choices, and measure traffic.
You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies. Some features (favorites on that device, vote limits) may not work as expected if you do.
We use Personal Data and Usage Data to:
We may share information:
We do not sell your email list. We do not have a parent company or affiliate group to share it with.
We keep Personal Data only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, including newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, contact messages while we handle them, reviews while they remain published, and usage logs for a shorter period unless we must keep them longer for security or law.
The Service is hosted on computers that may be outside your state or country. Service Providers (including Google) may process data in the United States or other locations. By using the Service you understand that your information may be transferred to those places. We use providers that offer contractual and technical safeguards we consider adequate for this kind of site.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in an email, or by contacting us. You may ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of Personal Data we hold about you (for example a contact message or a review). Email us at [email protected] and mention "Privacy".
Favorites live only on your device: delete them there, or clear the site's stored data in your browser. We may keep information when we have a legal obligation to do so.
We try to protect Personal Data with commercially reasonable measures, but no transmission or storage on the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
The Service may link to other sites (including social platforms and advertisers). Their privacy practices are their own. We are not responsible for their content or policies.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. Changes take effect when they are posted. Please review this page periodically.
